or many young people trudging through a dreary and godless world, the '90s will be remembered as the Decade of Despair. They are besieged by the relentless onslaught of today's technology. They are immersed in the deceptive message of the hopelessness of hope and the futility of life. Sex brings disease. Drugs are debilitating. Religion breeds hypocrisy. They look forward to the Millennium only in the hope that it will all come crashing down in apocalyptic proportions, thus bring an end to the futility and the pain. For these young people, it is a world without meaning, a world without hope, a world without a soul.

Emerging from this malaise is a band of brooding intensity known as Saviour Machine. Their melodic compositions and innovative productions dance on the cutting edge of today's performance art and rock opera. The lyrics are poetic and profoundly honest, recognizing the darkness of our times, yet refusing to yield to its despair. Powerful and passionate, the music of Saviour Machine brings the soul back into an art form that has lost its soul.

Saviour Machine emerged in the summer of 1989. They recorded and released their first demos in 1990. After two years of performing and developing their vision, they signed with Frontline Records and released ‘Saviour Machine I’ in 1993. During a time of controversy, confusion and political upheaval at Frontline, they released ‘Saviour Machine II’ in 1994 and began to pursue new representation in Europe. In December 1994, founding member Eric Clayton and his European management team formed MCM Music—an independent label for all Saviour Machine projects, past, present and future. With the release of the CD and video for ‘Live in Deutschland’ in 1995, they began to experience popularity in Europe that is breaking through the boundaries between the Christian and secular worlds there.

Saviour Machine is currently in the process of producing their most demanding artistic effort to date. With the most comprehensive study of end-times prophecy ever set to music, they are creating what the Europeans have dubbed as “the unofficial soundtrack to the end of the world.” This unprecedented project, simply called ‘Legend,’ encompasses four full-length CDs and over five hours worth of music. ‘Legend I’ and ‘Legend II,’ released in '97 and '98 are two of the most groundbreaking musical endeavors of the decade. The long awaited ‘Legend III:I’ (Disc one of a double-CD) was released in the fall in 2001 with the final disc ‘Legend III:II’ planned for release in late 2002. The compositions are sweeping, bombastic, disturbing and operatic—conveying grandeur of apocalyptic proportions. This is music that answers the ultimate questions of a hopeless generation. These are lyrics that offer an intelligent perspective on a meaningless world. This is a passionate presentation for an apathetic time. This is a message that can reach the unreachable... a Legend is born...
