NOVEMBER 2005

I’d like to take this opportunity to introduce Pale Rider and his ministry to those that frequent GothicChristianity.com.

David: You just launched a website and the address is?

Pale Rider: http://www.bloodygospel.com

David: Why now?

Pale Rider: I used to have an internet outreach and took it down about four years ago. In the last couple of weeks, God called me to put it up, and to finish the Bible study series I started so long ago. It is called “The Christ of the Vampires.” I try to present the Gospel in a non-threatening way, but it is not watered down. To the contrary, it is the Gospel with all the blood and gore that goes with it. Without the blood of Christ, we can't be saved.

David: I looked at Bloody Gospel and I liked it. About a year ago, I had a link on my site to a site dedicated to outreach to the vampire community. It was a wonderful website and it targeted a population that I have not so I’ve really missed the resource. Do you see yourself as ministering to this population?

Pale Rider: Oh, yes. Vampires, goths, and those in the occult. Basically, I am presenting the Gospel (from a very traditional Protestant standpoint) in a very untraditional way. One outreach in my hometown had a motto, “Whatever it takes!”

I will do whatever it takes to win someone to Christ.

I used to have Satanists and atheists tell me that Christianity is the bloodiest religion in the world. I finally started to embrace that, and flipped it around on them. “Ya, you're right. And that is what I like about it.”

Without the blood of Christ, Christianity falls. Christians need to quit watering down the Gospel; cause this generation is craving “meat” not “milk.” Oh, I am starting to rant again, when I talk about outreach. You're in it, and I am preaching to the choir. (Grins)

I present the Gospel to non-believers, without shoving it down their throats. That is the reason that I have many pagans as well as a Satanist for a friend. Also, because the way I am, those in other religions also allow me into their world, even though they know I am a real “conservative” Christian. I say real, just to say that I am not into some New Age or mystical type of Christianity. I even have a couple of pastors that are going to help me out with “The Christ of the Vampires” articles.

David: Please let me know your thoughts about the vampire community and your vision for your site.

Pale Rider: I really never thought about the fact that I am one of the only ministries targeting the vampire community. It kind of puts a little more pressure on me... but it a good way.

I believe that if the Gospel is presented with the blood of Christ being the foundation of Christianity, which it is, that those in the vampire community will be receptive to it. I believe that this is fertile ground as far as missions are concerned. Also, I know where many “goths” come from. I have been there. I have had problems with depression, scarification, and suicide. I have seen death up close, but for me, knowing about death makes me learn to appreciate life more.

The vision for my site, I will post at least ten more “The Christ of the Vampires” articles. The ideas are already on paper. I want my site to be a place where non-believers will come to read these articles, which is basically a Bible study. But then again, it isn't your normal Bible study. I am hoping that my website will be that connection with non-Christians like I have locally. For many of these people, I might be the only Christian that they talk to. I have often asked a couple of my pastors and close Christian friends to meet me in the pagan or occult community, so these non-Christians can get to know as people.

As far as the site is concerned, the key is to have a dark looking site, but have “the Light shining through the darkness.” First draw them to the site, and then hopefully present the Gospel to them in a way that they don't feel threatened, that makes them want to know more.

David: So many in the gothic community take on goth names or other pseudonyms. Please tell me about Pale Rider.

Pale Rider: Oh, I have been using the name Pale Rider both online and in the pagan community, since the late '80s. It is a safe way for me to talk to unsafe individuals.

David: I am really excited about your site and ministry. I knew of one other person targeting the vampire community, but he no longer operates his ministry. It’s really good to have another vampire missionary on board. God bless you, man.
