"SACRILEGE" RESPONSE

 want to lash right back at you
for the words you wrote in this song
but the Lord made it clear to me
such response is very wrong

It was a brutal attack you made
against my Lord and His Son
my first instinct is to punch back
but that’s not how this battle will be won

Any lack of understanding
is because you have pushed God away
yet He is still there, knocking
loving you dearly anyway

Your closed door is why you feel abandoned
feel in the center of disgrace
a black hole rising up around you
swallowing up hope, without a trace

It’s not the divine who’s flawed, but us
who put the cracks in the faith you’ve lost?
Building your wall, brick by brick of mistrust
holding off God, at any cost

If you feel “just fine”
then why lament so loud?
Pulling along a multitude
of followers in your crowd

Deliberately ignoring those
who truly follow the Son
caring for the sick, feeding the poor
every day, one by one

Digging wells and building schools
in dangerous lands far from home
risking their very lives
to live out the Father’s love

So instead of fighting back with words
I will go down on my knees
praying for the light to shine
in your dark, the pain to ease
