HOW DO I BECOME A CHRISTIAN?

don’t know how it will work for you but I had to come to the end of my rope. I had to go to the depth of sorrow and pain before I was ready to admit that I needed God. My heart cried out to God in all sincerity, “Help me. Please God help me.” God heard my plea. I don’t believe it mattered how I expressed it.

I would encourage you to do the same. Speak to God. Speak to Him directly and honestly. Tell Him how you really feel. If you will, I know He will come to you, because He came to me.

“God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. 17 God did not send his Son into the world to condemn it, but to save it,” John 3: 16–17

No one wants to condemn you. No one wants to stand in judgement. We’re all in the same boat and anyone that thinks different is going the wrong way on a busy street. But, there is good news and that’s what we want to share.

I grew up in a kind of Christianity that was, at least to my way of thinking, a bunch of meaningless rituals. My dad told me that once I was confirmed I could do whatever I wanted and what I wanted was to get out of that church; so that’s what I did. Then, a day before the date I had set for my own suicide, I went to a bible study with a friend. I had told God that I wouldn’t take my own life if He would show Himself to me. I made no rules. He could do it any way He wanted. This friend invited me and I thought, “this could be it.” It was.

I met God and I discovered for myself what my parents knew all along—Christianity isn’t religion. It's about a relationship with a living and active God that very much wants to love you.

You don’t have to pray the exact words below but you do need to have a talk with God. Let Him know exactly how you feel. Open up your heart and be honest with Him. If Goth means anything it means honesty. If you are a Goth then you know how to be honest; just direct some of it toward God. If you need help, pray something like this:

“Dear God, I’m lost. I need help. Jesus come into my life. I want you to be my Lord as well as my Savior. Strengthen me as I apply myself to loving and obeying you from this moment on and for the rest of my life. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.”

Did you pray the prayer above with sincerity? If you did, then please contact me and let me know. If you did not, then please tell me what is holding you back.
